Simpson Thacher secured a win for client El Puerto de Liverpool, a large Mexican retailer, in a dispute surrounding Liverpool’s participation in Nordstrom’s announced $6.2 billion going-private merger; McGuireWoods, Sheppard Mullin, Foley Hoag and Rabinowitz, Boudin, Standard, Krinsky & Liberman secured a victory for their client, Cuban state cigar company Cubatabaco, in its three-decade-long trademark battle with Delaware’s General Cigar Company over the name Cohiba and Rivero Mestre secures first victory for a client in the first-ever jury trial under the Helms-Burton Act, which allows American citizens, including Cuban-Americans, to file lawsuits against companies trafficking in property confiscated by the Cuban government.
