Latin America: The Tourism Winners

Mexico, Dominican Republic remain top stars in region’s tourism.

While Mexico continues to be the Latin American leader in tourism arrivals and receipts, the Dominican Republic is cementing its position as a star on its own, ranking as the second-largest tourism market and earner, but leader when it comes to receipts as a percent of GDP and a top two country in terms of arrivals as a percent of population.

Other breakout markets include Argentina, Chile, Panama and Uruguay, according to a Latinvex analysis of new data from UN Tourism (formerly known as the World Tourism Organization) and the governments of the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
