Cleary Gottlieb Advises $14.4 Bln LatAm Offers

Firm advises major offers from Mexico, Chile, Codelco and YPF.

Cleary Gottlieb started the year strongly, advising on four Latin American offers that combined raised $14.4 billion. They included Mexico’s $8.5 billion offer (the largest issuance by Mexico to date), two offers from Chile for a combined $3.3 billion; a $1.5 billion offer from Chilean state copper producer Codelco and a $1.1 billion offer from Argentina’s state oil company YPF.

A&O Shearman also advised on the Codelco offer, while Simpson Thacher advised Argentine energy company MSU Energy’s $400 million exchange offer.
