US trade with Latin America sets new record, helped by Mexico.

US trade with Mexico last year grew by twice the rate of the previous year, helped by a pickup in both US exports to and imports from Mexico, according to a Latinvex analysis of data from the US Census Bureau.

Meanwhile, Brazil has replaced Venezuela as the second-largest Latin American exporter to the United States.

And as in 2013, the Latin American countries with free trade agreements with the United States – which account for more than 80 percent of the region’s US trade -- outperformed the region in terms of trade, exports and imports and as a result increased their share of trade compared with the rest of the region.
