Simpson Thacher: Strong Latin America Growth, Good Outlook

Capital markets, M&A work boost Latin American practice work.

Simpson Thacher is seeing another strong year in Latin America, helped by both capital markets and M&A work.

The firm ranked among the top two foreign legal advisors on Latin American IPOs the first half of the year and among the top seven foreign legal advisors on Latin American M&As the first half of the year, according to Latinvex rankings.

In this interview with Latinvex, New York-based Todd Crider (Head of Simpson Thacher's Latin America Practice) and Brazil-based Grenfel Calheiros (Head of the firm’s São Paulo office) talk about how they view the outlook this year for Latin America capital markets and M&A work for the firm, how it copes with the roller coaster of Argentina and how it handled the COVID lockdown in Brazil.
