FCPA & Latin America: U.S. Backtrack?
Latin America FCPA corporate settlements grow, as does focus on individuals.

Just as the United States continued to increase enforcement activity related to Latin America and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), there are reports that President Donald Trump wants to change the law as well as pull the United States out of the World Trade Organization's Government Procurement Agreement, a global pact worth $1.7 trillion in government contracts aimed at fighting corruption.
“Public reports that the Trump Administration could discontinue the U.S. Government’s sustained commitment to FCPA enforcement would represent a significant backtracking in the steady and careful progress in cooperation made in the region over the last several years,” says Matteson Ellis, an attorney at at Miller & Chevalier and author of The FCPA in Latin America.
