Latin America: M&As Decline 5%


While Brazilian mergers and acquisitions declined 15% through third quarter.

The value of announced mergers and acquisitions in Latin America declined 5.1 percent in the first nine months of the year, according to Refinitiv and Latinvex data.

The decline would have been worse if not for two major deals outside of Brazil – the $3.6 billion Sempra-China Yangtze deal in Peru and the $1.9 billion Delta deal with Chile’s LATAM Airlines.

They helped offset a 15 percent decline in Brazilian M&As.

All in all, Latin America saw 948 announced deals worth a combined ...
