IT industry veteran Claudio Muruzabal has been named president of the Latin America division of Germany-based SAP, the world’s largest business software company. Muruzabal takes over from Rodolpho Cardenuto, who became interim president of SAP Latin America, in addition to his role as president of SAP’s Global Partner Operations.
Argentine native Muruzabal, who will assume the position on August 1, has been CEO of Neoris since 2004.
Meanwhile, Martin Méndez, currently President of Neoris South America Region, will succeed Muruzabal as CEO of Neoris.
“On behalf of the entire SAP Global Managing Board, we are delighted that Claudio will join SAP as the president of the Latin America & Caribbean region,” Robert Enslin, President of SAP Global Customer Operations, said in a statement. “Claudio’s extensive experience and expertise in the information technology industry, coupled with a proven track record of driving profitable business growth provides the region with a distinct competitive advantage.”
Muruzabal successfully lead the evolution of Neoris from being the IT branch of Mexico’s cement giant Cemex to becoming a global fast growth business and IT consulting company and achieving global partner status with SAP.
Previously,
Muruzabal served as vice president of NCR’s Teradata for Latin America and the
Caribbean, and also held numerous executive positions throughout his 17 year
career at NCR.
“I am tremendously excited to assume this new challenge at SAP,” Muruzabal said
in the statement. “I hope that my prior experience as a close partner to SAP
and my knowledge of what customers in Latin America require to grow and
compete, will contribute to further their journey to successfully Run Simple.”
CARDENUTO BACK AS GPO HEAD
The
appointment of Muruzabal allows Cardenuto to once again focus his full
attention on leading the SAP Global Partner Operations Organization, Enslin
added.
“On behalf of the SAP Global Managing Board, we want to thank Rodolpho for his
outstanding leadership and willingness to lead the region,” he said.
Cardenuto, a native of Brazil, temporarily assumed the Latin America duties in November after Latin America president Diego Dzodan abruptly left in October after only seven months in the job. Last month he was named vice president of Latin America sales at Facebook.
Cardenuto was named
Global Partner Operations president in May 2014 after heading up SAP’s
Americas division –which included the United States, Canada and Latin America
-- since January 2013.
Prior to that he served as president of SAP Latin America for nearly five years
after joining the German company in July 2008. Cardenuto previously held
various positions at US technology company HP for 15 years.
Cardenuto was singled out by Latinvex as one of the leading Brazilians with global positions (see Brazil’s Other Export: Human Capital).
MENDEZ: NEORIS VETERAN
Argentina native Méndez has been with Neoris since its inception in 1996 as he
previously served as the founder and CEO of AMTEC.NET, before the company was
acquired by Neoris.
Méndez held different roles within Neoris, first as the leader for its operations in Argentina and later as President of the South America Region, leading the growth and development of the strategic market for the company.
