Shearman Advises Eletrobras Privatization


Baker McKenzie, Hughes Hubbard, Simpson Thacher advise Mexico, Brazil, Argentina deals.

Shearman & Sterling represented Brazil’s state-owned BNDESPar as selling shareholder in the $6.9 billion offering of shares issued by Brazilian state electricity company Eletrobras in the largest privatization in Brazil in two decades; Baker McKenzie is advising Netherlands-based logistic service provider Advario on its joint venture with Mexican petrochemical company Braskem Idesa to build a $400 million ethane import terminal in Mexico; Hughes Hubbard advised Brazil-based pulp producer Suzano on its new, $70 million venture capital fund and Simpson Thacher represented Argentina-based real estate company IRSA in connection with the merger with IRSA CP.
