Latinvex 500: The Country Tally
The country breakdown among Latin America’s top 500 companies.
BY LATINVEX STAFF
Companies from the top
six Latin American countries on the Latinvex
500 all posted dismal results last year.
In terms of profits, Mexico saw the worst deterioration, followed by Colombia and
Brazil. The Mexican decline was largely driven by Pemex, while Colombia’s
declines were impacted by the weakening of the peso against the dollar, which also
hit Chile’s results.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s profit decline was caused by the massive losses at State oil producer Petrobras.
Both Brazil and Mexico saw a slight decline in the number of companies on the Latinvex 500, while Chile, Argentina and Peru increased their share.
